Odoo ERP Technical Consultant

The location of this position is to be Nairobi, Kenya. An expat benefit package is not available for this position. The most appropriate candidate will be eligible to work in and already reside in Kenya.

Summary

Responsible for custom module development, feature implementation, design enhancements, system configuration opportunities, unit testing, and providing primary support in order to improve utilization of the Odoo ERP platform by the various business units.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Modify and add additional functionality to existing Odoo modules.
  • Recognize the impact of changes related to core vs non-core modules.
  • Integrate Odoo with third-party modules and systems using the API library, SDK and web services (e.g MS Dynamics).
  • Determine technical requirements from given business requirements.
  • Write exhaustive unit tests for existing and new modules.
  • Thoroughly test and deploy changes to modules.
  • Maintain change/version history of all changes in code, configuration, and salary rules.
  • Manage salary rules by interpreting user needs, writing salary rules, and organizing rules so that they are reusable and maintainable.
  • Maintain Odoo administration configuration settings.
  • Manage process to ensure that Odoo is up to date on the latest security releases.
  • Manage process to perform a major release upgrade ensuring that all apps, external products, API connections, and custom code performs as required.
  • Manage Odoo implementations including new business units’ analysis and configuration.
  • Provide insight into solving problems.

Job Level Specifications

  • Hands-on experience in Odoo programming, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Object-oriented programming skills and technical knowledge in Python, JavaScript, XML.
  • Excellent knowledge of PostgreSQL is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Product Development Lifecycle and DevOps tools like GIT, Jenkins, JIRA, etc.
  • A thorough understanding of Odoo Deployment Process and tools.
  • Ability to integrate two Odoo installations into one installation.
  • Familiarity with development practices like Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development.
  • Ability to understand different business processes.
  • Ability to learn fast and execute accordingly.
  • Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems and/or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to plan and coordinate work, ensure the efficient flow of projects and processes.

Experience

  • Previous experience with Odoo ERP implementation and integration or 2 to 3 years of proven experience as Odoo functional consultant/Business analyst.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related subject.

Language

Proficiency in spoken and written English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
