JOB SUMMARY
In April 2021, we launched a digital intervention to improve the health and livelihood of Rwandan youth. We distributed tablets to over 40 schools across 8 districts; students are able to access CyberRwanda, a mobile application that provides sexual and reproductive health information and access to products.
We are currently going through a re-design to incorporate new features informed by recent design research. Our goal is to launch these features in a phased approach, with a final deadline of December 2022.
We are looking for an in-house full-stack developer with ample experience in both front-end and back-end programming languages to work with our design team to build these new features.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
YOU WILL
Build a back-end content management system to accommodate multilingual content,blog posts and articles.
Build new font-end features to serve the needs of our users, in both English and Kinyarwanda.
Work closely with our internal product team to define product requirements.
Fix bugs and support QA for new features built.
YOU HAVE
Experience working with diverse and remote teams.
Strong communication skills and a strong grasp of the English language.
Worked with Trello, Jira, or other similar task management tools.
Experience with front-end and back-end development including: SCSS, GraphQL, ApolloClient, NextJS, ReactNative, EasyPeasy, NodeJS, Framework, ExpressJS, and StyledComponents.
Experience with Google Analytics.
COMPENSATION
YLabs adheres to Project Fair’s principles and standards to establish equity in pay with the overriding principle of “equal pay for work of equal value” outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. All salary ranges are based on level within the organization and are competitive to regional and national salary benchmarks, based on the respective office location.
The pay range for this project is $20,000 - $25,000 USD, commensurate with experience.
This is a full-time, 6 to 8 month remote contractor role. The candidate can be based anywhere, but we require a minimum of 4 hours overlap time with CAT timezone. Preferences will be given to candidates in the Africa region, with a flexibility to work CAT hours.
